In the attack on Pearl Harbor, there were different strategies and different weapons used. The Japanese mainly used iron bombs for their attack. These bombs came in a variety of sizes. They varied from the range of 100 pounds, 250 pounds, 500 pounds and sometimes even 1000 pounds. The bombs were not all made the same. Some were made with high explosives which was one of the main bombs used for the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Other bombs were incendiary and armor piercing. The bombing of Pearl Harbor wasn’t just bombs coming from air planes. Submarines were also a main part of the attack. The submarines used torpedoes against the ships in the harbor, although less successfully than the iron bombs. However, the most successful element of the attack was with no doubt the combination of fast, modern and capable strike aircraft and the aircraft carriers 400 miles out to sea, well beyond reprise attacks by American forces.
