The Beginning
December 7, 1941 it all started on a clear morning, on our American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. At around 8 on a Sunday, was attacked by hundreds of Japanese fighter planes. We were bombared for about 2 hours, however this left a devistating affter mass. The Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels, including 8 battle ships, and about 200 aircrafts. More than 2,000 American soliders and saliors died during the attack, about 1,000 were wounded. After the physical attack on Pearl Harbor President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked congress to declare war on Japan. The congress passed this and made a declare on war with Japan. needless to say we tried to stay out of it as we could. However Japan had no idea what this would bring to them this just woke up a sleeping giant. We were really to fight and we were not going to give up.
